Patricia George
Head Swim Coach

Patricia
George is entering her first full year as head women’s and men’s swim coach
at Wells College. She served as interim head coach of both Express teams
this past season from late December to the close of the campaign. George
served
as assistant coach of the Express this past fall and in the 2005-2006 season.
For the last three years,
George has served as a swim instructor and lifeguard at the Cortland YMCA.
She was also the head modified swim coach for the Dryden School District
in the 2005 fall season.
George swam collegiately
at SUNY Cortland where she served as team captain her senior season and
was part of the 800 yard freestyle relay team that set the school record.
She still has a top-10 time in the 200 yard freestyle at Cortland and still
competes for the Masters Swim Association.
George earned a Bachelor
of Science in Physical Education and is in the process of completing a
Master of Science in the same field from SUNY Cortland. |
Andrew Gross
Women's Tennis Coach

Coach Gross serves as head
women’s tennis coach and will lead the Express in their first year of North
Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) competition.
Andrew earned a Bachelor
of Arts degree in Health and Exercise Science from Gettysburg College where
he was a three season participant on the tennis team. Andrew is a
certified strength and conditioning specialist through NSCA (National Strength
and Conditioning Association) and has served as a personal trainer at Fitness
Centers in New York, Virginia and Pennsylvania. At Southern
Cayuga High School and Union Springs High School, Andrew held the position
of Head Varsity Tennis Coach and for five summers worked at the Gettysburg
College Nike Tennis Camp. |
Sarah Keating
Women's Lacrosse Coach

Sarah Keating ’98 serves
as the head women’s lacrosse coach, assistant women’s soccer
coach, and coordinator of
NCAA compliance. In that capacity, Keating will coach and recruit for the
women’s lacrosse program and will assist Coach Ventura with the women’s
soccer program. In
her capacity as NCAA compliance
coordinator, she will manage all aspects of the College’s NCAA
compliance including individual
and team compliance, administration of NCAA rules, and completion of NCAA
reports on behalf of the Athletics Department.
Keating’s last position was
at Pine Manor College where she served as assistant athletic director,
head women’s lacrosse coach, and head women’s soccer coach. Prior to Pine
Manor, she coached lacrosse at Springfield and Elms Colleges. Keating holds
a B.A. in sociology from Wells and an M.A. in physical education with a
concentration in athletics administration from Springfield. |
Shawna Little
Softball Coach

Shawna comes to Wells College
from Juniata College, where she served as the assistant women’s basketball
coach and resident director for the past
two and a half years. She
brings extensive coaching, recruiting, and playing experience. While
at Juniata, Little also served as the assistant advisor to the Juniata
Chapter of the Student Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC), contributed as
a member of the Diversity Committee, and was the academic advisor for the
Women’s Basketball team. Little holds a BA in Psychology and Communication
Arts from Allegheny College and an MS in Sport Management Studies from
California University of Pennsylvania. Little played three years
of intercollegiate basketball and one year of intercollegiate softball
at Allegheny College in Pennsylvania.
Coach Little serves as the
head women’s softball coach and will lead the Express in their first year
of North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) competition. Little also
serves as the head coach of
the Wells College women's
basketball program and
is tasked with building
a new basketball program to
compete at the NCAA Division
III level. The Express will field a club team in the 2008-2009 academic
year and take the court for its inaugural season during the 2009-2010 academic
year. |
Michael Paolini
Men's Soccer Coach

Michael
Paolini will enter his third year as the head men's soccer coach.
Most recently, Paolini was the assistant soccer coach at LeMoyne College
where he helped lead the Dolphins to playoff berths in each of his four
seasons. He also currently coaches the U12 girls Syracuse Football
Club. Paolini, an All-America at Plattsburgh State, played professionally
with the New Hampshire Phantoms. Paolini tallied two goals and two
assists in his rookie season with the USL D3 club.
Paolini holds a National
Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) advanced national and national
diploma.
A four-year starter at Plattsburgh,
Paolini was named first team all-SUNYAC, all-region and team Most Valuable
Player. He graduated with a bachelor of science in Hotel Restaurant
Tourism Management in May of 1999. Since graduation, he has served
as the Director of Soccer at the Central New York Family Sports Centre
in Baldwinsville, N.Y., Co-Director of the Syracuse Football Club, and
Owner/ Director of Professional 1v1/Team Training-Pao’s Soccer School of
Excellence.
In addition to coaching men’s
soccer, Paolini will oversee event management for athletics. |
Deb Pickering
Associate Athletic Trainer

Deb Pickering, who came
to Wells in 2005, serves as the associate athletic trainer and fitness
coordinator. In this new capacity, she will provide athletic training for
student-athletes and coordinate sports conditioning and wellness initiatives.
She earned her M.A. in exercise and wellness promotion from Slippery Rock
University and a B.S. in athletic training from Alfred University.
Pickering will work with
Elly Ventura and implement wellness programming at the College and teach
in the physical education program. |
Elly Ventura
Head Athletic Trianer

Elly Ventura serves as the
head athletic trainer. She leads and manages the athletic training functions
for Wells’ 11 intercollegiate sports and coordinate with team physician
Dr. Andy Getzin. Ventura most recently worked at Castleton State College
where she provided athletic training services to 22 NCAA Division III athletic
teams and served as athletic training education program clinical coordinator.
She holds a B.A. in sports
medicine/athletic training and psychology from Capital University and an
M.A. in exercise science from Central Michigan University. She moved here
with her husband Jamey from Vermont. |
Jamey Ventura
Director of Athletics
Women's Soccer Coach

Jamey Ventura serves as
the Director of Athletics and the Head Women's Soccer Coach. He co-chairs
the Athletics Advisory Board with Professor Jackie Schnurr. Ventura
directs athletic department operations and supervises the coaching staff.
Jamey Ventura joined the
Wells College Coaching staff in July 2007. Ventura is building a competitive
women’s soccer program that will be successful both in the classroom and
on the field.
Prior to coming to Wells
College, Ventura served as Athletic Director and Head Women's Soccer Coach
at Green Mountain College. In his last season, Ventura guided the
program to an 18-1 season and the NCAA Association of Division III Independent
Regional Championship. During his tenure, the program produced 3 all Americans,
2 academic all Americans, 1 Championship, 2 runner-up championships, 10
all tournament team players, and 12 all independent team players.
Prior to coming to Green
Mountain College, Ventura spent two years as an assistant at Kenyon College.
Ventura has also directed 20 different teams in Monroe County at the Perinton
Recreation, Fairport Soccer Club and high school levels. Ventura holds
a United States Soccer Federation D license and is a member of both the
National Soccer Coaches Association of America and the US Soccer Coaches
Organization. Coach Ventura is a 1999 graduate of State University of New
York, Brockport where he graduated magna cum laude with a bachelor degree
in psychology and a minor in elementary education. Ventura also earned
an associate degree in liberal arts and sciences from Monroe Community
College. |
Joe Wojtylko
Men's Basketball Coach

Joe Wojtylko serves as head
men’s basketball coach and coordinator of sports information. Wojtylko
will launch the new men’s basketball program at Wells, starting as intercollegiate
status in 2008-09. In addition to the head coaching responsibilities, Wojtylko
will coordinate the College’s sports information program by maintaining
the Athletics Department Web site and communicating with the media regarding
athletics and sports at Wells.
Wojtylko served most recently
as the assistant basketball coach at Hamilton College. Prior to that, he
was the interim head coach and assistant basketball coach at Hobart College.
He earned a B.A. in history and philosophy from West Virginia Wesleyan
College. While a scholarship student-athlete at WVWC, he was the basketball
captain and the team’s best defender.
