Aurora, NY –The Wells College softball team lost 10-1
and 10-0 to NEAC rival Wilson College on Saturday afternoon in
Aurora. With the loss the Express fall to 2-18, 0-10 in the NEAC
while the Phoenix improves to 6-4 and 3-3 in the NEAC.
In game one the Phoenix jumped out to a four run lead
after the top half of the first inning and led 10-0 after four
innings. Rebekah Coons led the Express offense finishing 2-3
while Erin Brosnan (Duanesburg) recorded the lone RBI for the
Express.
In game two the Phoenix again put the Express in hole
jumping out to a quick 7-0 lead, sending 12 batter to the plate,
after the first inning. The Express were unable to generate any
offense as Phoenix pitcher Cheryl Taylor was stellar on the
mound allowing just one hit and two base runners over five
innings. Wilson added one run in the third and two in the fourth
to seal the 10-0, run ruled shortened, victory.
The Express will return to action on Sunday, April 19th
as they take on NEAC rival Penn St. Harrisburg at home with the
first pitch set for 1:00 pm.
