HALLETT SCORES TWO IN SEASON FINALE LOSS TO CAZENOVIA

The Wells men's lacrosse team dropped their final game of the 2009 season 21-5 to Cazenovia on Thursday afternoon. With the loss the Express finish the season at 0-12 while the Wildcats improve to 6-8 on the season.

Sophomore Rebekah Coons of the softball team, Junior Emily Lotkowictz,  Freshmen Charlotte Fielding, Sophomore Stefanie Miller, Freshmen Gabriella Decker, and Sophomore goalie Liz Barclay all of the women's lacrosse team were named to  NEAC All-Conference teams just released on Thursday.

MANN TOSSES SHUTOUT VICTORY IN GAME ONE WIN OVER PENN ST. BERKS

4/26/09
Aly Mann tossed seven innings of shutout softball, scattering three hits, and the Express defense committed just one error, as the Express went on to defeat Penn St. Berks in game one 1-0 Sunday afternoon in Reading, PA. Game Two was a different story as the Nittany Lions would roll to a 17-1 victory. With the split the Express end their season 3-27, 1-15 in league play, while the Nittany Lions improve to 15-19, 11-4 in league play.

KEUKA STORMS AWAY WITH TWO VICTORIES

4/25/09
The Keuka College Storm swept through the Express on Saturday taking both games of the NEAC conference double-header 11-0 (5 inn.) and 15-2 (5 inn.) at Wells. With the loss the Express fall to 2-26, 0-14 in league play, while the Storm improve to 16-4, 14-0 in league play.

MIXED GOLF FINISHES 10TH AT NEAC CHAMPIONSHIP

4/25/09
The Wells College mixed golf team finished 10th with a score of 984) in the NEAC Golf Championship held at Clarks Summit, PA on Friday. Rutgers University-Camden earned their first NEAC Championship shooting a team score 598 over the two day tournament. PSU Harrisburg (650), University of Dallas (653), Keuka College (665), and SUNYIT (687) rounded out the top five. Josh Robinson of Keuka earned the individual championship shooting a 145 (76,69). Justin Rigney led the Express over the two days finishing with a 236 (118,118).

EXPRESS FALL TO GRIFFINS

The Wells College men's lacrosse team fell 19-2 to the Griffins of Gwynedd-Mercy on Saturday afternoon in Aurora. With the loss the Express fall to 0-11 while the Griffins improve to 6-8 on the season.

MIXED GOLF 10TH AFTER FIRST ROUND

4/24/09
The Wells College mixed golf team currently stands in 10th place after the first round of the North Eastern Athletic Conference Championship being held in Clark Summit, PA. Justin Rigney currently holds the low score for the Express with a 118. Rutgers University-Camden currently holds the lead with a team score 307, 19 strokes ahead of University of Dallas (326). Penn St. Harrisburg (331), Keuka College (344), and Penn St. Berks (347) round out the top five. Four players players are currently tied for the individual lead with a 76.

WOMEN’S LACROSSE FALLS IN SECOND HALF TO HARTWICK

4/23/09
The Wells College women’s lacrosse team lost 16-11 to Hartwick College in non-conference action Thursday afternoon in Aurora. With the loss the Express fall to 5-7 on the year while Hartwick improves to 2-11. Emily Lotkowictz led the Express offense with five goals and two assist while Liz Barclay carried the Express defense in net finishing with 22 saves.

ALGHALI AND WELCH HOMER IN LOSS TO ELMIRA

The Wells College softball team dropped both games of their non-conference double-header to Elmira College 12-3 and 12-5 on Wednesday night in Elmira. With the loss the Express fall to 2-24 while Elmira improves to 13-9.

WELLS MEN’S LACROSSE DEFEATED BY PENN ST ABINGTON

The Wells College men’s lacrosse team lost 21-10 to Penn St. Abington in non-conference action on Wednesday afternoon in Aurora. Despite the loss, the Express’ 10 goals were the highest total in the program’s two year history. The Express previously put up a program high six goals in a 12-6 loss to Mt. St. Vincent on April 12, 2008. With the loss the Express fall to 0-10 on the year while Penn St. Abington improves 1-11.  The win also marked the first win in program history for Abington.

RIT TAKES TWO FROM WELLS SOFTBALL

The Wells College softball team came up just short in both games of their non-conference double-header to Rochester Institute of Technology  losing 7-2 and 3-0 on Tuesday afternoon in Aurora. With the loss the Express fall to 2-22 on the season while RIT improves to 15-15 on the season.

LOTKOWICTZ NAMED NEAC ATHLETE OF THE WEEK FOR THIRD TIME

Junior Emily Lotkowictz was selected as the NEAC Women's Lacrosse Student-Athlete of the Week. Lotkowictz, a midfielder for the Express, was selected for her outstanding offensive effort leading her team to a 1-1 NEAC record for the week. Lotkowictz scored four of the six goals in a 17-6 loss to Cazenovia, and scored seven goals, had six assists, and four groundballs in a victory over Wilson. Lotkowictz receives this award for the third time this season. Lotkowictz has now recorded 58 goals and 14 assist for a total of 72 points on the season.

COONS EARNS SAAC STUDENT-ATHLETE OF THE WEEK HONORS

4/21/09
Rebekah Coons has been named SAAC Student-Athlete of the Week. A sophomore on the softball team, Coons recorded a .428 average on nine hits in eight games over the week, including a 3-3 game against SUNY Cobleskill on April 13th. Coons also recorded eight putouts and four assist while playing third base for the Express.

 

WOMEN’S LAX DEFEATS MEDAILLE IN TRIPLE OT

 

4/20/09
Emily Lotkowictz (Skaneateles) scored a season high 12 goals, including the game winning goal 2:21 into the third overtime, as the Wells College women’s lacrosse team defeated Medaille College 16-15 in triple overtime on Monday afternoon in Aurora. With the win the Express improve to 5-6, 3-1 in the NEAC, while the Mavericks fall to 2-7, 1-3 in the NEAC.

The Wells College men’s lacrosse team lost 29-2 to North Eastern Athletic Conference opponent Medaille College on Monday afternoon in Aurora. With the loss the Express fall to 0-9, 0-3 in the NEAC, while the Mavericks improve to 4-7,  2-1 in the NEAC.

WOMEN'S TENNIS AT KEUKA COLLEGE CANCELED

4/20/09
Due to the impending inclement weather, the women's tennis match scheduled at 4:00 pm today at Keuka College has been canceled and will not be made up. The tennis team will now await the North Eastern Athletic Conference seeding to be released within the next few days. The conference tournament is set to begin on Saturday, April 25th and run through Sunday, April 26th in Clark Summit, PA.

 

LADY LIONS SHUTDOWN EXPRESS

4/19/09
The Wells College softball team dropped both games of their North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) double-header 4-0 and 11-0 to the Penn St. Harrisburg Lady Lions on Sunday afternoon in Aurora. With the losses the Express fall to 2-20 (0-12 NEAC) while the Lady Lions improve to 8-21 (5-5 NEAC).

WOMEN'S LAX SCORES SEASON HIGH 23 GOALS

4/18/09
The Wells College women’s lacrosse team scored a season high 23 goals on their way to 23-0 shutout victory over NEAC rival Wilson College on Saturday afternoon in Aurora. Eight different players scored in the victory for the Express who, with the win, improve to 4-6 and 1-2 in the NEAC while the Phoenix fall to 2-11 and 0-4 in the NEAC.

The Wells College softball team lost 10-1 and 10-0 to NEAC rival Wilson College on Saturday afternoon in Aurora. With the loss the Express fall to 2-18, 0-10 in the NEAC while the Phoenix improve to 6-4 and 3-3 in the NEAC.

BRIMM FINISHES WITH 21 SAVES IN LOSS TO MARYWOOD

The Wells College men’s lacrosse was defeated 25-0 by Marywood University in non-conference action Saturday afternoon at Marywood. With the loss the Express remain winless at 0-8 while Marywood improves to 9-4 on the season.

RED DRAGONS DEFEAT EXPRESS

4/14/09
The Corltand St. Red Dragons rolled over the Express 8-1 on Tuesday evening in Cortland. With the loss the Express drop to 4-4 on the season. The Red Dragons held a 3-0 lead after doubles play and would take 5 of the 6 singles matches en-route to victory.

ALFRED SWEEPS SOFTBALL

4/14/09
The Alfred University Saxons bats came alive against the Express as they would go on to defeat Wells 9-0 (5 inn) and 15-0 (3 2/3 inn.) in non-conference action Tuesday afternoon in Hornell. With the loss the Express fall to 2-16 on the season while the Saxons improve to 20-2. Alfred had their pitching, hitting, and defense all in order on Tuesday as they would no-hit the Express in each game, including a perfect game by Sarah Scanlon in game two. The Saxons combined for 24 runs on 22 hits while committing zero errors in the two games.

The Wells College softball team dropped both games of their NEAC double-header to the SUNY Cobleskill Fighting Tigers by a score of 3-1 and 15-9 on Monday afternoon in Cobleskill. With the loss the Express fall to 2-14 (0-8 NEAC) while the Fighting Tigers improve to 4-9 (2-4 NEAC).

The Wells College Express held off a late rally by Green Mountain College to claim a hard-fought 9-7 victory in women's lacrosse action Saturday.  With the win Wells improves to 3-5 while Green Mountain falls to 4-4.

MEN'S LACROSSE DOWNED BY CYCLONES

The Centenary College Cyclones offense could not be stopped as they would defeat Wells College  21-4 in men’s lacrosse action Saturday. With the loss, the Express fall to 0-7 while the Cyclones improve to 4-6 on the season.

SOFTBALL DOUBLES-UP HILBERT

4/9/09
The Wells College softball team steadily defeated Hilbert College 8-7 and 18-9 (5 inn.) in non-conference action on Thursday at Wells. With the victories, the Express improve to 2-12 (0-6 NEAC) while Hilbert drops to 4-11 (0-2 AMCC) on the season. The Wells bats were hot on Thursday afternoon as they would plate 26 runs on 23 hits in the two games.

The women's tennis match scheduled for Wednesday, April 8th at 4:00 pm against Roberts Wesleyan has been postponed. A make-up date has yet to be announced.

Due to field conditions and impending weather, tomorrow's men's lacrosse game against Penn St. Abington at 5:00 pm has been postponed. A make-up date has yet to be announced.

 

MILLER NAMED SAAC ATHLETE OF THE WEEK

4/6/09
Stefanie Miller was named SAAC Athlete of the Week for the week ending April 5th. In two games, the sophomore women's lacrosse player scored five goals on ten shots, while recording 15 groundballs in a 1-1 week for the Express.

The Express will return to action on Saturday, April 11th when they travel Poultney, VT to take on Green Mountain College at 11:00 am.

 

PENN ST. SHUTSOUT WOMEN'S TENNIS

4/5/09
The Penn St. Nittany Lions swept through their match against the women's tennis team cruising to a 9-0 victory in NEAC action on Sunday afternoon in Aurora. With the loss the Express fall to 2-2 (2-1 NEAC) while the Nittany Lions improve to 3-6 (1-0 NEAC).

WILDCATS SWEEP EXPRESS

The Wells College softball team were shutout in both games of their NEAC double-header against SUNYIT, 8-0 (5 inn.) and 16-0 (5 inn), on Sunday in Utica. The two losses drop Wells to 0-12 (0-6 NEAC) while SUNYIT improved to 4-10 (2-2 NEAC). Rebekah Coons, Juli Vibbard, Amelia Welch and Jess Fossett would all collect hits for the Express.

MILLER LEADS WELLS OVER LANCASTER

4/4/09
Stefanie Miller (Cazenovia, NY) scored five goals and Kirsten Musciano (Boonton TWP, NJ) added three goals of her own as the Wells College women’s lacrosse team went on to defeat Lancaster Bible College 13-5 Saturday afternoon in Aurora. Liz Barclay (Laporte, PA) earned the win in net finishing with eight saves.
