Transferring to Wells. Transfer students may enroll at Wells in the fall or spring semester after completing at least one semester at another institution. Students transfer to Wells from junior and community colleges, as well as from four-year institutions. They vary in age, background and life experience, but share one very important characteristic: their commitment to education.

Wells College defines a transfer student as one who has accrued the equivalent of one semester (12 semester hours) or more of college credit following secondary school graduation. Although a student may transfer up to 60 semester hours, she must complete 60 semester hours at Wells to fulfill the college's residency requirement.

Students wishing to transfer to Wells should be in good academic standing at the last college attended. Additionally, Wells will only transfer course credits towards the Wells degree from institutions that are fully regionally accredited.

Application Process. Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis. Transfer students must submit a completed application to the Wells College Admissions Office with a $40.00 application fee.

In addition the applicant must submit:

  • Official college transcripts from all colleges attended.
  • Course descriptions or catalogues from all colleges attended.
  • Official high school transcripts or official results of the GED exam.
  • At least two letters of recommendation, one from a college professor. If you have been out of college for five or more years, you may submit two professional recommendations.
The applicant may also be asked to submit:
  • SAT I or ACT scores
  • TOEFL results for International Students (may be required)
  • A personal interview
Transfer Friendly. Wells makes transferring easy by providing students with credit evaluations prior to enrolling. You will know exactly what requirements you have fulfilled and which you will need to complete in order to receive your degree, before you ever step into the classroom. Students also benefit from advising and orientation programs. Wells is dedicated to each transfer student's specific educational goals.

Scholarships and Financial Aid. Scholarships are available to students who have completed an associate of art or science degree from an accredited institution. For more information, contact the Director of Transfer Admission at 1-800-952-9355 or send an email to transferadmission@wells.edu.
