MORE INFORMATION
Taylor House - Home of the Wells PresidentThis webpage for guidance counselors is a new addition to the college website. I hope you find it helpful when working with prospective students interested in Wells.

One of the most frequent questions we receive from counselors is, What’s new at Wells? And this fall we have some very exciting news you need to know as you work with students involved in the college search process.

The Board of Trustees has made the decision to expand Wells’ mission to include men effective immediately. I hope you will share this news with male students, as well as the kind of talented women we have traditionally served and that you have referred to us. As I am sure you are aware, Wells has an excellent reputation as a high-quality, liberal arts college. We are very excited that men now have access to this option. Please help us spread the word.

Additionally, we are investing in the academic program. New initiatives include expanding off-campus and study abroad options, partnering with Cornell University to create an engineering major at Wells, adding a master’s degree program in education, and offering a summer institute in the book arts.

We are working hard to keep the education we offer affordable. I am very pleased that U.S. News & World Report has again recognized us in their “Great Schools, Great Price” category. Wells is one of only four New York State private colleges and universities named among the nation’s top liberal arts schools that offer quality education at an affordable price in the 2005 edition of U.S. News & World Report’s America’s Best Colleges

Our students today still benefit from Wells’ 30% tuition reduction policy of several years ago. The cost of a Wells education for the 2005-06 academic year is: $14,840 for tuition; $7,280 for room and board; and $950 for fees. And we continue to work closely with students and their families to put together financial aid packages, including awards from our many scholarships, that serve their needs.

Off-campus we are again enjoying the Aurora Inn, which has been beautifully refurbished. You can find out more about what is happening at Wells by clicking Here

If you are in the area, please stop by. We would love to show you around campus and Aurora and talk with you more about the opportunities for students at Wells.

Warmest Regards,
Susan Raith Sloan
Director of Admissions
